Dreams About Someone You Like or Crush On Decoded

Dreaming About Your Crush

Are you dreaming about your crush? For reasons you do not understand, do you have vivid dreams about a guy or girl you have been crushing on. In some of your nighttime dreams, do you kiss your crush or even make love to them?

Did the dream cause you to become aroused but at the same time, confused? If so, you wouldn’t be alone.

Dreams about romantic interests are a common occurrence for those who harbor secret desires for another.

To keep it real, dreams about crushes come up a lot during counseling and psychotherapy. In order to get to the root cause behind the dream, it is important that the therapist and the client work as a team to arrive at a place of understanding.

Crush fantasies via dreams can really be split into two areas:

1. Dreams about people we know and;

2. Dreams about people we don’t know but attracted to.

In the material that follows, I will walk you through some of the current thinking about dreams, infused with insight from the world of psychology.

To help shape what appears here, I’ve also consulted ancient teachings that come to us from the psycho-spiritual realm.

My hope in sharing this information is to help you get to a place of understanding as you try to figure out: What does it mean when you dream about your crush?

To the extent possible, I have tried to avoid getting bogged down with a bunch of clinical jargon and psychobabble that only confuses an area that is arguably largely abstract.

Dreams about crush and my background

Before we continue too far, you have a right to know a little about my background. I work as a college professor, teaching courses in psychology and health sciences. I’m also a psychotherapist and hold a board certification in hypnotherapy. My Ph.D is in psychology.

As a personal hobby, I like to write about things that that touch upon the subconscious, the supernatural, the astrological and just plain geeky (see my post on green eyes).

For years, I have studied the meaning of dreams because just like you, I’m curious about their meaning. If you want to learn more about me and my qualifications to author this article, please be sure to stop by my bio page.

Dreams about Crushes 101

What’s  critical you know is that dreams happen for a reason. Some behavioral scientists believe dreams are the mind’s way of releasing material held deep in the subconscious. Others think they are merely the residue of the day.

Personally, I believe that dreams – specifically about crushes – are communicating a desire to obtain something that may seem beyond our reach.

Dream interpretation has been going on for centuries. In most all dream teachings, the binding thread is that dreams are the stuff of another dimension – a communication portal that transcends time and space to deliver an important message.

For example, if you believe in animal spirits and animal guides, you subscribe to Native Indian teaching that suggest life lessons are being delivered to you supernaturally in corporeal form (i.e. the lesson of slowing down in life appears to you symbolically in the form of a turtle).

Dreaming about your crush meaning

If you have experienced a dream about your crush, you are probably wondering why it happened and what it means. There are a number of possibilities but they basically boil down to one of three things:

1. Physical desires

2. Emotional desires

3. Combination of both

These three items apply regardless if you have met the person or not. For example, if you regularly dream about a celebrity, it has something to do with one of the three items mentioned above.

And the same holds true if you are dreaming about someone you casually know – such as a person from school, work or the gym.

Before we can get into specifics about what your dreams about a crush are all about, it is important to take note of the symbols you are aware of during your dream state.

In fact, the symbols are the key to understanding why you are dreaming of that person in the first place.

What follows are several dream symbols connected to crushes that I want you to focus on. It may be helpful to pause at this point and jot down specific memories of your dreams so that you have a resource to work from.

kiss

Dreaming about kissing your crush

Does your dream involve locking lips with your crush? Is it a quick peck on the mouth or is it a more passionate, deep kiss?

Either way, the kiss itself is a symbol of a desire to share intimacy. Most people who dream of kissing a crush do not report additional erotic material (i.e. intercourse).

And so if you are dreaming of kissing a girl you have been seeing in the hallways or making out with a guy you see on the train, you can feel fairly confident in knowing that you desperately want to have an intimate connection with that person.

More: What dreams about death mean

It is not uncommon for people who have kissing dreams about a crush to secretly hold a deep connection to that person for reasons beyond their understanding.

In many ways, this qualifies as a secret crush because the object of affection is usually “in the dark” about your feelings.

I encourage you to meditate a bit on the material from your dream and focus in on that kiss. Did the person you are crushing on initiate the kiss? Did you start kissing on them? Was the kiss passionate?

If crush initiated kiss in dream

If your crush initiated the kiss – that is significant. It could mean that you are picking up on a vibe that suggests an interest or attraction.

Nothing in the universe is truly random. There is a reason for everything. You didn’t just dream about that person suddenly grabbing you and passionately planting one on your lips.

Search your thoughts and memories about interactions with this person. Are you absolutely sure they aren’t attracted to you – even just a little bit?

If you kissed your crush in dream

When analyzing the kiss that happened in your dream, if you were the one to initiate the lip lock, you need to ask yourself if the person kissed you back.

If you can’t recall, that is significant. It could mean that you want to have a romantic interlude with your crush but are unsure of their reaction.

On the other hand, if your crush kissed you back with zeal, it could mean that you feel the reward might be worth the risk of possible rejection.

Remember, we are dealing with symbolism here and so being open to interpretation is key. Should you be reading this post and happen to be a water sign, this will likely be intrinsic to you.

intimacy

Dreams about sex with your crush

Was your dream intimate in nature, meaning the two of you held a special moment of carnal desire? If so, it is important to reflect on the imagery and extract specific activities.

Here is why:

Some dreams of this nature are about pleasing someone. Other times, they are about self-pleasure.

For example, if your dream involved physical touch that you initiated and they were receptive, it could mean just what it seems like – a desire to make the person happy.

On the other hand, if the person did something to you during the dream to bring you pleasure (use your imagination), it likely means there is a deep unhappiness – a void inside – that you want this person to fill.

And so in this instance, you may want to focus on what’s missing from your life, particularly on the intimacy front.

Dreaming of a combo of kisses and intercourse

If you are a person who has had (or having) the rare experience of dreaming about a crush that involves kissing and physical intercourse, it most likely a deeply rooted desire to be in a relationship with someone.

What’s missing from your life? Are you receiving enough physical touch? Is there passion in your life?

FYI: This doesn’t mean the person you are dreaming about is “the one”. It does however, mean you desire this from somebody.

Crushes often are the manifestation of our hearts projection. A “speaker of truth” if you will that comes to us from a place from beyond.

Dreams that just have your crush’s face

Does your dream seem somewhat abstract when it comes to your crush? For example, do you see her or him just standing in the distance, looking at you? Do you communicate the verbal means or is it all eye contact?

Dreams that focus on the face of a person we are crushing on hold the symbolic meaning of love. By this I mean there is a desire to be in love with another person in a romantic way.

On the surface it may seem the object of that love is the person you are dreaming about.

But here is the deal –

That face you see is actually symbolic of you. It is a projection of all that you want in a person and a relationship.

If you meditate deeply about the imagery of your dream, you will likely notice that the individual’s face is always happy in nature (i.e. smiling, laughing and so forth).

Faces in dreams are commonly a paradoxical mirror of the self, manifested through the subconscious.

Spiritual Messaging of Crushes

Some people wonder when they dream about a crush if there is a spiritual meaning. In other words, what is the spiritual message being transmitted?

The answer to that question largely hinges on your personal belief system and openness to new thinking. From the Karmic perspective, it is possible that your dream is a sign from the universe to make a move.

This doesn’t mean that you should try to hit on your crush right away. Instead, focus on what’s is missing in your life.

Others believe that crush dreams contain the spiritual message of unmet needs. In other words, the person you are dreaming about symbolizes something missing from your life that needs attention.

Karmic energy may have been used by the universe to draw your awareness around this need.

Meaning of Dreams Book

If you are interested in learning more about the meaning of dreams, including why you are having subconscious thoughts about someone you are attracted to, I highly encourage you to pick up a copy of the book, The Hidden Meaning of Dreams by Craig Parker (see Amazon for price).

Inside, you will find page after page of dream symbolism. This particular read works as a kind of key to the subconscious, allowing you to better interpret all that you see, hear and feel during your dream state.

What I like most about “The Hidden Meaning” is how simple it is to understand, devoid of psychological mumbo-jumbo.

So there you have it – dreams about crushes and what they mean. I hope you found this post helpful.

  1. Hello! I had two dreams about my interest but they excluded kissing and the other above mentioned.
In the first it was boiling down to that he took my hand and led me up a hill because I wanted the privacy of the hill… the valley was full of people he knew.

My second dream was that he always came by. There was a wooded area and he kind of came to see me daily. Sometimes he even appeared on horse with a cavallery behind him 😀

I kind of feel what this could mean but could this actually really mean something? I mean it is a dream after all… okay, and also how could this be related to something, when I barely see this guy?

    Best regards!

  2. Let me just say, thanks for righting this article. I like how you used western and spiritual methodology. I had a very intimate dream about someone in reality that I am heavily attracted to. They initiated the kiss. . .and we went further. The problem is I am married. I love my husband dearly but have always been honest with myself that I am naturally a flirtatious individual and appreciate attractiveness in others. I was just so surprised how vivid and realistic the dream was when I woke up in the morning. . .
